The Shrimp Tank brings you interviews with some of the most successful business owners in the United States to learn the do’s and don’ts of starting and running a successful business. Then, the fun really starts when we bring in high school and college students to pitch their business ideas to the Shrimp Tank. We don’t fund any business, but we do teach kids how to turn their business ideas into a successful business.

 

Richard Jensen / BRS Consulting

Rich Jensen is a principal and co-owner of BRS Consulting. In addition to his services as an advisor for BRS clients, he serves as chief financial and investment officer for the BRS companies. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1982 with an engineering degree. After 5 years in the field of engineering, he founded his own financial consulting firm in the San Francisco Bay Area, later moving to American Express Financial Advisors as a Senior Financial Advisor and District Manager. He then moved to Prudential Financial in Newark, NJ, where he served as Branch Manager, Managing Director, and ultimately, Vice-President of Financial Planning. In these roles he managed offices with $3.5 Billion of assets and helped create and develop Prudential’s fee-based financial planning platform. Prior to forming BRS with David Sims, Rich spent four years working with major donors to an international non-profit based out of Little Rock, Arkansas. Rich married Mary in 1985, and they have three children and one perfect grandchild.

David Sims, JD PhD / BRS Consulting

David Sims, JD PhD, is a principal and co-owner of BRS Consulting. In addition to his services as an advisor for BRS clients, he serves as chief compliance and content officer for the BRS companies. David married Tamara in 1986, and they have eight children. David is the author of The Child in American Evangelicalism and the Problem of Affluence (Pickwick, 2009). He is a graduate from the University of Florida (B.S. Business/Finance, 1983; Juris Doctor, 1986), Reformed Theological Seminary (M.A.T.S., 1994), and the University of Durham (Ph.D. in Theology, 2006). David holds law, insurance, and securities licenses. Legal services are not provided through the BRS companies.

 

Gordon Jensen

Gordon Jensen joined BRS in 2016 after graduating with honors from the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He is insurance and securities licensed. Joining the BRS team has afforded Gordon with the opportunity to bring his analytical mind, highly relational nature, and millennial perspective to the BRS workplace. He enjoys combining the business knowledge he learned at UCA with the firm’s unique methodology of stewardship. As he grows his client base, Gordon assists with the administration of the team’s marketing efforts and technological needs. He is engaged to his fiancée Kaitlyn, and they will marry in the summer of 2017.

Heisman is the owner and CEO of Savant Comprehensive Technologies, My School Pool and Ask a Privacy Officer. Prior to this, Lee was the founder and CEO of H and W Printing and Brainstorm Design Works, a full advertising agency and commercial printing firm located in Atlanta, GA. He has a Master Degree from Rutgers University and is on the Advisory Board of the KSU Entrepreneurial Center. Lee has sold 2 of his previously owned businesses over the years through mergers and acquisition. Before launching his Entrepreneurial Career, Lee was a Licensed Physical Therapist in New Jersey for over 3 years.
